Ernie Henry (September 3, 1926 December 29, 1957) was an American alto saxophonist, a vibrant hard-boptalent. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he began playing saxophone in his youth, inspired by Charlie Parker. In the1950s, Henry became a notable figure on the jazz scene, collaborating with masters like Thelonious Monk, DizzyGillespie, and Max Roach. His style featured rapid, expressive improvisations and a deep sense of melody,setting him apart among bebop musicians. Though his career was brief, his recordings, such as SevenStandards And A Blues, remain cherished by jazz fans, highlighting his talent and energy.
