“Sentido” is Ramiro Pinheiro’s debut album as a leader, recorded on June 4–7, 2019, at Estudi Laietana, Barcelona, and released on Fresh Sound World Jazz (FSWJ33-101) as a 180-gram audiophile vinyl in gatefold format. Produced by Rodrigo Balduino, with mastering by Pieter De Wagter, the record highlights the acoustic guitar’s warmth. The lineup features Ramiro Pinheiro (acoustic guitar), Horacio Fumero (double bass), Nicolas Correa (drums), Pablo Giménez (flute), and guests including Rita Payés (trombone), Àlvar Monfort (trumpet), Gabriel Amargant (clarinet), Pedro Bastos (accordion), and vocalists like Hugo Arán and Marina Ribeiro. The album includes nine tracks: seven original compositions by Pinheiro, such as Quatro Ventos and Sabor de Madrugada, and two interpretations—Pr’um Samba by Egberto Gismonti and Canto Triste by Edu Lobo. The music is Brazilian jazz with elements of bossa nova, samba, and choro, where Pinheiro’s guitar weaves lyrical melodies, and the ensemble adds rhythmic depth. The vinyl, a limited edition, is prized for its clear, emotive sound, capturing a Mediterranean and Brazilian atmosphere. “Sentido” is a musical journey, celebrating Pinheiro’s Brazilian roots and creative freedom.
Ramiro Pinheiro (born 1979) is a Brazilian guitarist, vocalist, and composer, a vibrant figure in Brazilian jazz and bossa nova. Born in São Paulo, he began playing guitar in his youth, initially self-taught, before studying at the Souza Lima Conservatory, where he honed his craft. Inspired by João Gilberto’s bossa nova, Chico Buarque’s samba, and Stan Getz’s jazz, Pinheiro developed a refined style, blending melodic warmth with rhythmic freedom. In 2007, he moved to Barcelona, becoming a key part of the local music scene, collaborating with jazz and Brazilian musicians. Pinheiro contributed to projects like Gafieira Miúda and Duo Brasil, performing across Europe. His debut album as a leader, Sentido, reflects his love for Brazilian rhythms and jazz improvisation, cementing his reputation as a gifted songwriter.
