Bunky Green (born April 23, 1935) is an American alto saxophonist and educator, a notable hard-bop figure. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he began playing saxophone in his youth, inspired by Charlie Parker and Phil Woods. In the 1950s, Green moved to New York, becoming part of the jazz scene, collaborating with Charles Mingus and Andrew Hill. His style featured energetic improvisations and a melodic delivery, setting him apart among bebop musicians. Green recorded several albums as a leader, including My Babe, showcasing his talent as a soloist. Later, he became a respected educator, teaching at the University of North Florida and mentoring a new generation of jazz musicians.
