Ron Jefferson (February 13, 1926 – May 7, 2007) was an American jazz drummer known for his refined style and collaborations with prominent musicians. Born in New York, he began performing in the 1940s, working with legends like Lester Young, Charlie Parker, and Coleman Hawkins. In the 1950s, he was a member of Oscar Pettiford’s trio and played with Lester Young, establishing himself as a dependable and expressive drummer. Jefferson moved to Paris in the 1960s, where he performed and recorded extensively, including with his own ensembles. His playing was marked by lightness, musicality, and a strong sense of swing.
