Nat Adderley (November 25, 1931 – January 2, 2000) was an American jazz trumpeter and cornetist, a prominent figure in hard bop and soul jazz. Born in Tampa, Florida, he was the younger brother of saxophonist Cannonball Adderley. Nat began playing trumpet in his youth, inspired by Miles Davis and Clifford Brown. In the 1950s, he became a star, collaborating with his brother’s quintet, as well as Lionel Hampton and J.J. Johnson.
